Meet your teacher
Aloha E-205 Ohana!
My name is Mrs. Contreras. This is my 2nd year here at Ho'okele Elementary, and I am excited to learn and grow with you this school year. I am so excited to have students back in my physical classroom this year and return to a more "normal" school environment.
Here is a little bit about myself. I was born and raised in northern California. I graduated from William Jessup University with a BA in Education. I student taught and substitute taught for one year each in California's public schools. I then made my way over here to Hawaii 10 years ago. I have been teaching mixed grade level classes ranging from grades 3-6 in private schools up until last school year. My common denominator has always been 4th grade. This is my second year teaching 4th at Ho'okele Elementary. I absolutely love this grade level.
I am married and we just celebrated our 11 years wedding anniversary. I have two beautiful children that keep me on my toes at all times. My oldest daughter is 4 years old and my son will be 2 years old in October. Our family loves to be at home spending time together watching super hero cartoons, or swimming at the beach whenever we can.
At 4th grade, I feel the importance of growing and developing independence is crucial at this age. So that will be a huge focus this year in our class as I start to prepare them for middle school. Don't worry, I will walk them through it every step of the way.
I believe the only way we are going to get through this school year successfully is through constant communication. So please don't hesitate to ask questions, reach out, or just take a peek at our class website, Google Classroom, and Seesaw account. The best modes of communication will be email, Seesaw, phone, or prearranged virtual meetings at this time.
